The party urged the Rajasthan government to exercise caution and implement stricter environmental regulations before approving new real estate projects.

The Congress party has expressed strong concerns over recent real estate developments in Rajasthan, stating that the state government’s policies could have detrimental effects on the Aravalli hills. The party highlighted that the double-engine government, with the same party at the Centre and state, has facilitated commercial and residential projects that threaten the fragile ecosystem of the region.

According to Congress leaders, the Aravalli range is an ecologically sensitive area that plays a crucial role in maintaining soil stability, preventing desertification, and supporting local biodiversity. They warned that rapid urbanisation and large-scale construction projects could lead to deforestation, soil erosion, and water scarcity, affecting both the environment and the communities dependent on these natural resources.

The party urged the Rajasthan government to exercise caution and implement stricter environmental regulations before approving new real estate projects. Congress also called for detailed environmental impact assessments to ensure that any construction activity does not compromise the integrity of the Aravalli ecosystem. Leaders stressed that sustainable development should be the guiding principle, balancing economic growth with ecological protection.

Local communities and environmentalists have echoed these concerns, highlighting the potential for long-term damage if unregulated construction continues. Many pointed out that the Aravalli hills act as a natural barrier against desertification and play an essential role in maintaining groundwater levels and local climate conditions. Destruction of vegetation and natural landscapes in the area could lead to increased flooding, soil degradation, and loss of habitat for numerous flora and fauna species.

The Congress also criticised the state government for prioritising commercial gains over environmental considerations. Party spokespersons emphasised that development projects must align with conservation policies and respect the rights of local communities who rely on the hills for agriculture, water, and livelihoods. They urged both state and central authorities to take immediate action to prevent irreversible damage.

Experts have suggested that sustainable urban planning, strict adherence to environmental guidelines, and promotion of green infrastructure could help mitigate the impact of real estate development. Congress leaders concluded that safeguarding the Aravalli hills is not only an environmental necessity but also vital for the long-term social and economic well-being of Rajasthan.

The debate comes amid increasing public scrutiny of urban expansion in ecologically sensitive regions. Congress has committed to raising the issue in legislative forums, demanding accountability from the state government. They reiterated the need for comprehensive policies that prioritize ecological conservation alongside economic development, ensuring that future generations inherit a balanced and healthy environment.
