He said the party’s grassroots network and long standing relationship with local communities remain key factors in its political strength.

Communist Party of India Marxist MLA H Salam has stated that the party will remain strong and united even if senior leader G Sudhakaran decides to contest the upcoming election as an independent candidate from the Ambalapuzha constituency in Kerala. Salam emphasized that the CPI M has always functioned on the strength of collective leadership and organizational discipline rather than relying on individual personalities.

Speaking about the political situation in the constituency, Salam acknowledged Sudhakaran’s long association with the party and his contributions to public life. However, he said that the party’s structure and ideological commitment ensure stability regardless of individual decisions. According to Salam, the CPI M has a strong cadre base and a well established organizational system that continues to guide its political activities and electoral campaigns.

Salam noted that while the party respects the experience and seniority of leaders like Sudhakaran, it is also necessary to clarify positions when public statements create confusion among supporters or voters. He added that maintaining transparency and consistency in communication is essential for political organizations, particularly during election periods when public attention is high.

The Ambalapuzha constituency has historically been an important political base in Kerala’s coastal region, and it has seen strong competition among major political parties over the years. Sudhakaran has previously represented the constituency and is widely recognized for his role in Kerala politics. His possible independent candidacy has therefore generated discussion among party workers and political observers about its potential impact on local electoral dynamics.

Despite these developments, Salam expressed confidence that the CPI M will continue to receive strong support from voters in the constituency. He said the party’s grassroots network and long standing relationship with local communities remain key factors in its political strength. According to him, the CPI M’s policies and development initiatives have consistently focused on public welfare, which helps maintain trust among voters.

Salam also highlighted his own tenure as the sitting MLA, stating that his work has been guided by transparency, accountability, and a commitment to serving the needs of constituents. He said that efforts have been made to address infrastructure development, social welfare programs, and local governance issues during his time in office. Maintaining a clean public record and ensuring effective communication with residents have been central to his approach, he added.

Political analysts observe that internal debates and independent candidacies occasionally emerge in major political parties, especially ahead of elections. However, the overall impact often depends on voter perceptions, party organization, and the ability of leadership to maintain unity among cadres.

As the election approaches, both party leadership and local workers are expected to intensify campaign activities in the constituency. The situation surrounding Sudhakaran’s potential independent contest will likely remain a topic of discussion in Kerala’s political landscape, but CPI M leaders continue to emphasize unity and organizational strength as the party prepares for the electoral contest.
