The Delhi Assembly witnessed high political drama as Speaker suspended more than a dozen AAP MLAs, including former Chief Minister Atishi, following continuous disruptions during the house proceedings. The ruling AAP members engaged in heated debates, leading to the Speaker's strong remarks, including "Fatafat safai kijiye" (Quickly clear them out).
The suspension came after AAP MLAs protested against certain issues, raising slogans and disrupting legislative discussions. The Speaker, citing unruly behavior and violation of Assembly rules, took strict action. This move triggered strong objections from AAP leaders, who termed it an attempt to suppress their voices.
Reacting to the decision, AAP leaders condemned the suspension, calling it undemocratic and politically motivated. Atishi and other suspended MLAs vowed to continue their fight, stating that they were only raising issues concerning the public.
The opposition parties have welcomed the Speaker’s decision, stating that discipline in the Assembly must be maintained. However, the political atmosphere in Delhi is expected to intensify, with AAP planning legal and public protests against the suspensions.
This development marks another flashpoint between AAP and opposition parties, as the battle for political control in Delhi heats up.
