Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has vowed to take strict action against the Women and Child Development (WCD) department for issuing a public notice that she claims undermines the objectives of the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana. The scheme, aimed at empowering women in Delhi through financial support and social welfare, has been at the center of a political controversy after the WCD department's notice raised concerns.
The notice, which has been widely criticized by several political leaders, alleged that there were discrepancies in the implementation process of the scheme, leading to confusion among beneficiaries. CM Atishi strongly condemned the move, accusing the WCD department of working against the interests of women and the welfare of the program’s intended recipients.
In her statement, Atishi emphasized that the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana was designed to provide crucial support to women across Delhi, and any attempt to disrupt the scheme would not be tolerated. She assured that her government would hold the WCD accountable for the errors and enforce strict measures to prevent any further setbacks to the initiative.
The controversy has intensified the ongoing political discourse in the state, with the opposition accusing the government of mismanagement in welfare schemes. However, Atishi's firm stance signals a commitment to ensuring that the program continues to serve its purpose of empowering women and offering them tangible benefits.
The situation remains fluid, with political observers watching closely to see how the Delhi government will address the issue and whether the WCD department will face further scrutiny or reshuffling.
