As the nation observed the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, senior Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, paid tribute to the Father of the Nation and highlighted the enduring relevance of his ideals in contemporary India. Rahul Gandhi described Mahatma Gandhi not merely as a historical figure but as a way of thinking that forces driven by hatred and intolerance have failed to erase.

Speaking on the occasion, Rahul Gandhi said that Gandhi’s philosophy of truth, non violence and compassion continues to challenge ideologies rooted in hate and arrogance. He stressed that Gandhi’s ideas are timeless and remain essential for maintaining social harmony and democratic values. According to him, any attempt to weaken or diminish Gandhi’s legacy has been unsuccessful because his principles are deeply embedded in the conscience of the nation.

Congress leaders observed that Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings offer guidance at a time when society is facing increasing polarisation and intolerance. They warned that hatred and division pose serious threats to unity and peace, and emphasised that Gandhi’s vision provides a moral framework to counter such forces. Leaders reiterated that Gandhi’s message of peaceful resistance and inclusiveness remains relevant in addressing present day social and political challenges.

Rahul Gandhi also underlined that Gandhi’s influence goes beyond politics and extends into everyday life. He added that Gandhi’s legacy cannot be erased because it is rooted in values that resonate across generations.

Several Congress leaders participated in commemorative events and prayer meetings to honour Mahatma Gandhi. Floral tributes were offered, and leaders reflected on his role in India’s freedom struggle and his commitment to equality and human dignity. They also recalled Gandhi’s emphasis on moral leadership and ethical conduct in public life.

The Congress leadership used the occasion to urge citizens to uphold Gandhi’s ideals and reject hatred and violence in all forms. They stressed that remembering Gandhi should not be limited to ceremonial tributes but should inspire actions that promote unity, tolerance and respect for diversity.

Political observers note that Gandhi’s legacy continues to be a central point of reference in debates on India’s social and political direction. His philosophy of non violence and dialogue is often cited as a guiding principle in resolving conflicts and preserving democratic institutions.

As the country marked the solemn occasion, Congress leaders reiterated that Gandhi’s life and teachings remain a source of inspiration not only for India but for the world.
