The Waqf Bill, first introduced in July, remains a point of contention, with significant opposition over the handling of discussions within the parliamentary committee.

A heated clash erupted between BJP and opposition MPs during the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) meeting on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill. This marks the second day of disruption as opposition members accused BJP MPs of using offensive language and violating parliamentary norms. The issue intensified when BJP MPs, led by Nishikant Dubey, argued with opposition figures like Gaurav Gogoi and Kalyan Banerjee over the proposal to include women on Waqf boards.

Opposition MPs, including leaders from Congress, TMC, and Shiv Sena (UBT), staged a walkout and later sent a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla accusing the JPC chairperson of bias and misconduct. They criticized the committee for allowing personal allegations to be raised, particularly those targeting senior opposition figures such as Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. Following this, the opposition called for reforms in how the committee operates and demanded adherence to established parliamentary norms. The BJP has dismissed these claims, leading to continued tensions.
