In preparation for the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort on August 15, 2024, the Delhi Traffic Police have issued a traffic advisory.
Delhi Independence Day Traffic Alert
As per the advisory, several key roads will be closed to general traffic between 4 AM and 10 AM. Only vehicles with special permits will be granted access. The affected routes include:
- Netaji Subhash Marg from Delhi Gate to Chatta Rail.
- Lothian Road from GPO Delhi to Chatta Rail.
- SP Mukherjee Marg from HC Sen Marg to Yamuna Bazar Chowk.
- Chandni Chowk Road from Fountain Chowk to Red Fort.
- Nishad Raj Marg from Ring Road to Netaji Subhash Marg.
- Esplanade Road and its Link Road to Netaji Subhash Marg.
- Ring Road from Rajghat to ISBT.
- Outer Ring Road from ISBT to IP Flyover, including Salimgarh Bypass.
Motorists are strongly advised to avoid these routes during the restricted hours on August 15. Additionally, vehicles without parking permits for the Independence Day event should avoid certain areas, including C-Hexagon India Gate, Copernicus Marg, Mandi House, Sikandra Road, W Point, A Point Tilak Marg, Mathura Road, BSZ Marg, Netaji Subhash Marg, JL Nehru Marg, Ring Road between Nizamuddin Khatta and ISBT Kashmiri Gate, and Outer Ring Road from Nizamuddin Khatta to ISBT Kashmiri Gate via Salimgarh Bypass.
The Delhi Traffic Police have assured that clear and informative signage will be placed at key traffic junctions to guide vehicles heading towards the Red Fort.
