Panama City:

Congress leader and Member of Parliament Shashi Tharoor, while addressing a gathering in Panama, expressed deep concern over India's continued suffering as a result of repeated cross-border attacks from Pakistan. Speaking on the sidelines of a diplomatic event, Tharoor emphasized that India has consistently borne the brunt of hostile actions, leading to long-standing pain, grief, and losses for its citizens.

Tharoor stated, “India continues to bear the pain and wounds inflicted by repeated acts of aggression from Pakistan. Our country has suffered not only physical casualties but also emotional scars due to these provocations.” His comments were made in the context of broader discussions on regional peace and security in South Asia.

The Congress leader pointed out that India has shown significant restraint over the years, always striving for peaceful dialogue and diplomatic engagement. “Despite our peaceful intentions and efforts to maintain stability, we continue to face hostility that undermines the spirit of cooperation in the region,” he added.

His remarks are seen as a reflection of India’s longstanding stance on terrorism and cross-border militancy. Tharoor urged the global community to recognize the challenges India faces and the need for collective action against terrorism. He noted that international bodies must no longer overlook or downplay the impact of such actions on regional harmony.

Tharoor, who has served as an international diplomat and continues to be a vocal figure in Indian politics, used his platform in Panama to underline the urgency of global support for countries affected by terrorism. He insisted that the world cannot afford to remain silent when sovereign nations are subjected to continuous provocations and violence.

Political analysts observe that Tharoor’s comments also come at a time when India is reinforcing its global position on counterterrorism through bilateral and multilateral engagements. His statements highlight the importance of international cooperation in addressing these recurring challenges.

While he did not delve into specifics of any recent incident, Tharoor’s message resonated with many present at the event, who acknowledged the need for dialogue rooted in mutual respect and peace. Indian diaspora members in Panama also expressed support for Tharoor’s stance, stating that they often find it difficult to explain the ongoing tensions to those unfamiliar with the geopolitical context of South Asia.

Tharoor concluded by reiterating India’s commitment to peace but warned that patience should not be mistaken for weakness. He emphasized that India's pursuit of diplomacy is guided by principle, but it remains vigilant and prepared to defend its sovereignty when required.

His statements are expected to generate discussions both in diplomatic circles and within the Indian political spectrum, especially in light of continuing concerns about regional stability and national security.

Speaking on the sidelines of a diplomatic event, Tharoor emphasized that India has consistently borne the brunt of hostile actions, leading to long-standing pain, grief, and losses for its citizens.
