According to the SBI report, India has seen a steady rise in voter engagement, driven by several factors including improved electoral awareness, the rise of social media campaigns, and the expansion of voter facilities.

A recent report by the State Bank of India (SBI) suggests that India is likely to rank among the top three countries globally for voter participation in elections. The study, which analyzed voter turnout trends over the years, indicates a significant increase in the number of citizens actively participating in the electoral process.

According to the SBI report, India has seen a steady rise in voter engagement, driven by several factors including improved electoral awareness, the rise of social media campaigns, and the expansion of voter facilities. The report notes that this growing involvement is not only seen in national elections but also in state and local elections across the country.

Experts attribute the increasing voter participation to successful voter awareness programs by the Election Commission of India and the expanding reach of digital platforms that help inform and engage voters. Additionally, the government's efforts to simplify the voting process, including the introduction of online voter registration, have contributed to higher participation rates.

As India moves closer to the top ranks of global voter participation, this shift is expected to bring more attention to the country's democratic processes, setting a positive example for other nations. The rising electoral engagement also reflects a growing political consciousness among the Indian electorate, which could lead to more informed voting decisions in future elections.

The SBI's report further emphasizes that this increased voter participation aligns with global trends, where countries are seeing a rise in civic engagement, particularly among younger voters. With the 2024 general elections on the horizon, these findings highlight the importance of voter mobilization and continued efforts to enhance democratic processes across the country.

The report notes that this growing involvement is not only seen in national elections but also in state and local elections across the country.
