Union Minister Piyush Goyal has reiterated that India will never compromise its sovereignty or succumb to external pressure in matters concerning its national interests. Addressing a gathering at a public event, Goyal stated that the current government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership is committed to making independent decisions that prioritise the welfare of the nation and its citizens.

He emphasised that India’s foreign policy is rooted in self-reliance and mutual respect, noting that the country’s growing influence in the global arena is the result of consistent diplomatic engagement, robust economic growth, and strong leadership. Goyal asserted that while India seeks cooperation with all nations, it will not accept any conditions that undermine its autonomy or strategic priorities.

In his speech, Goyal highlighted the government’s initiatives to boost domestic industries, expand exports, and attract foreign investments without compromising on national interests. He pointed to recent trade negotiations, where India maintained a balanced approach to protect its farmers, manufacturers, and service sectors. According to him, this approach has helped India secure beneficial agreements while resisting clauses that could harm local industries or economic stability.

The minister also addressed the importance of strengthening India’s manufacturing sector, citing the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives as vital components of the country’s economic strategy. He explained that a self-reliant economy is better equipped to withstand external shocks and political pressures. Goyal stressed that this vision is not about isolation but about building resilience through innovation, skill development, and infrastructure growth.

Responding to questions from the audience, Goyal spoke about India’s stance on global issues such as climate change, trade disputes, and geopolitical tensions. He reiterated that while India is committed to international cooperation, it will engage on its own terms and in line with its developmental needs.

His remarks were widely interpreted as a message to nations that have recently expressed concerns or sought concessions from India on various trade and strategic matters. Analysts believe that the statement reinforces the government’s narrative of a confident and assertive India, ready to defend its position on the world stage.

Political observers noted that the speech could also resonate domestically, appealing to voters who value national pride and independence in policymaking. The sentiment of self-reliance and resilience has been a recurring theme in government communications, particularly in the context of global economic uncertainty and shifting geopolitical alliances.

Goyal concluded by urging citizens to support the government’s vision for a stronger, self-reliant India. He said that with collective effort and determination, the country can continue to grow while maintaining its dignity, sovereignty, and decision-making power. His strong words served as both a reassurance to the Indian public and a signal to the international community about India’s steadfast position.

He emphasised that India’s foreign policy is rooted in self-reliance and mutual respect, noting that the country’s growing influence in the global arena is the result of consistent diplomatic engagement, robust economic growth, and strong leadership.
