With national and international focus turning once again to the region, the call for a decisive stance against terrorism remains louder than ever.

Political leaders from Jammu and Kashmir have issued strong statements condemning Pakistan’s alleged support for terrorism in the region. These remarks come at a time when security forces have reported increased attempts of infiltration and renewed activity by terror groups operating near the Line of Control (LoC).

Senior political figures from across party lines, including members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC), and the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party, have united in denouncing what they describe as “deliberate destabilization attempts” by elements backed from across the border.

Unified Political Stance Against Terrorism

Speaking at a recent press briefing, BJP leader Ravinder Raina stated, “Pakistan must stop exporting terror into Indian territory. Jammu and Kashmir has suffered for decades because of cross-border terrorism, and the people now want peace, development, and progress.” He urged the Centre to continue its strong counter-terror operations and remain vigilant against any infiltration attempts.

Former Chief Minister and NC leader Omar Abdullah also expressed concern over the recent rise in terrorist activities and stressed that peace is essential for the region’s political and economic revival. He noted, “Violence, in any form, must be condemned. Pakistan’s role in encouraging such elements has long been documented, and the world must recognize the need to act firmly.”

Terrorism Still a Threat

Reports from security agencies have indicated a surge in infiltration attempts along the LoC in the past few weeks. Intelligence sources suggest that multiple terror camps are still active across the border, and there have been renewed efforts to push armed militants into Indian territory.

According to officials, over a dozen attempts have been foiled since April, with the Indian Army maintaining heightened alertness in sensitive sectors. Security forces have also intensified their surveillance and patrolling operations in border districts of Kupwara, Baramulla, and Poonch.

Call for International Attention

Political observers and former diplomats have echoed the need for global institutions to take serious note of Pakistan’s continued patronage of terrorist groups. They argue that peace in South Asia cannot be achieved unless there is collective pressure on nations that sponsor or tolerate terrorism.

Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party president Altaf Bukhari emphasized that the younger generation in the region wants jobs, education, and peace—not conflict. “The youth of Kashmir are choosing books over bullets. It is time that this dangerous game being played from across the border is stopped,” he said.

Conclusion

The united stand by Jammu and Kashmir’s political leadership reflects the growing resolve within the region to end the decades-long cycle of violence. As the Union Territory continues on its path of development, there is increasing emphasis on internal stability and external accountability. With national and international focus turning once again to the region, the call for a decisive stance against terrorism remains louder than ever.
