In a bold move, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has called upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide clear evidence to support his recent claims of infiltration in the state of Jharkhand. The demand follows statements made by the Prime Minister suggesting that the state is facing significant security threats due to illegal infiltration across its borders, which has become a politically charged issue.
The JMM, led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, expressed concerns over the Prime Minister’s allegations, stating that such claims could harm Jharkhand's image and create unnecessary panic. Party spokespersons argued that if the government has any credible information about infiltration, it should share the data and details with the state authorities rather than make broad, unsubstantiated statements.
The issue of infiltration has become a national talking point in recent months, with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) often highlighting it as a key concern in border states. However, the JMM has criticized the government's narrative, accusing it of using the issue for political gain ahead of elections.
The JMM’s demand for proof reflects growing frustration within the party, which believes that the claims are politically motivated and not grounded in fact. Party leaders have emphasized that addressing security concerns requires collaboration between central and state governments, but baseless accusations only serve to damage trust and cooperation.
This development has added further tension between the JMM and the BJP-led central government, particularly as the state government is preparing for upcoming elections. Whether the central government will respond with concrete evidence or whether this will escalate into a larger political debate remains to be seen.
