Karti Chidambaram, a prominent Congress leader, has strongly rejected the BJP’s recent allegations against Congress President Sonia Gandhi, referring to claims about a ‘deep state’ as baseless and confined to the dark web. The BJP had earlier raised concerns linking Sonia Gandhi to shadowy political networks, which Karti dismissed as nothing more than conspiracy theories without any factual basis.
Karti, responding to the allegations made by BJP leaders, stressed that such theories had no place in the public domain and were more fitting for underground forums like the dark web. He further criticized the ruling party for attempting to distract the public with unsubstantiated claims, instead of focusing on critical issues affecting the nation.
The issue began when BJP spokespersons claimed that there were deeper political currents influencing the Congress party’s decisions, accusing Sonia Gandhi of being at the center of these alleged networks. Karti, in his rebuttal, emphasized that these unproven accusations were part of the political narrative aimed at discrediting the opposition.
He also pointed out that the current government has a history of targeting opposition leaders with baseless allegations, diverting attention from pressing issues like unemployment, inflation, and governance. Karti’s comments reflect the Congress party’s ongoing tension with the BJP, which has escalated ahead of upcoming state elections and the 2024 general elections.
The latest exchange has reignited the political debate between the two parties, with the Congress demanding a focus on issues of national interest rather than indulging in smear campaigns. As the allegations continue to fly, Karti’s statement serves as a strong defense of Sonia Gandhi, reaffirming that the Congress party stands united against politically motivated attacks.
