In a significant move aimed at recognizing the contributions of religious leaders, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will launch the Pujari, Granthi Samman Yojana on a special occasion from the iconic Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place, Delhi. This new initiative, designed to honor priests, granthis, and other religious functionaries, promises financial aid and recognition for their tireless service to the community.
The scheme is set to benefit thousands of religious leaders across Delhi, including those who play vital roles in temples, gurudwaras, and other places of worship. Recognizing the often-overlooked efforts of these individuals, the Pujari, Granthi Samman Yojana aims to ensure that they receive both financial support and the respect they deserve.
Delhi Minister Atishi will also be launching the scheme simultaneously from the Gurudwara in Karol Bagh. The dual launch from two prominent religious sites is seen as a symbolic gesture reflecting the inclusiveness of the scheme, which aims to benefit religious leaders from different communities in the national capital.
The initiative, which is part of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government's ongoing efforts to uplift all sections of society, will provide a range of financial benefits to the religious leaders. Under the scheme, priests and granthis will receive an honorarium for their services, along with other support measures, such as medical assistance and welfare schemes.
Speaking about the initiative, CM Arvind Kejriwal emphasized the importance of respecting and valuing the work done by religious leaders who play a critical role in shaping the spiritual and cultural fabric of Delhi. The launch event is expected to be attended by a number of religious leaders and community representatives who have long called for better recognition and support for those serving in religious institutions.
Atishi, while speaking about the launch from Karol Bagh, highlighted that the scheme would benefit not just those in prominent places of worship but also religious leaders serving in smaller, local institutions who have often been overlooked. The government's commitment to providing financial security and healthcare for these individuals is seen as a major step toward supporting the welfare of all sections of society, particularly those who serve without seeking much in return.
As the Pujari, Granthi Samman Yojana rolls out, it is expected to bring about positive changes for the religious community in Delhi, ensuring that they receive the dignity and recognition they deserve. The launch event is seen as a turning point in the AAP government's approach to community welfare and support for the spiritual leaders of Delhi.
The initiative has been widely welcomed by religious communities, who have expressed gratitude towards the Delhi government for acknowledging their contributions to society. Many believe that this scheme will not only improve the lives of religious leaders but also strengthen the bonds between different communities in Delhi.
