Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has submitted a formal complaint to the Election Commission of India, seeking action against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Parvesh Verma. Kejriwal has requested the Election Commission to debar Verma from contesting elections, citing his alleged involvement in a major electoral scam.
In the complaint, Kejriwal accused Verma of indulging in unethical practices that violate the principles of free and fair elections. The Delhi CM has also called for a raid on Verma’s residence to investigate the alleged wrongdoing, claiming that Verma’s actions could have a significant impact on the integrity of the upcoming polls.
Kejriwal’s allegations come at a time when political tensions are high ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by Kejriwal, has been engaged in a fierce battle with the BJP for control of the Delhi government, and these accusations have further intensified the political climate.
The Election Commission has yet to respond to the complaint, and no official action has been taken at this stage. Political analysts suggest that this issue could escalate further in the coming days, adding to the already heated political environment in Delhi.
The BJP, on the other hand, has dismissed the allegations as baseless, calling them a politically motivated attack by the AAP to divert attention from their own campaign shortcomings.
