Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has openly criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s planned visit to Bihar, raising questions about the purpose and impact of the visit. Speaking at a party meeting in Patna, Yadav remarked that the people of Bihar should evaluate whether the central government’s promises have been fulfilled before paying attention to political speeches.
Yadav’s statement comes at a time when political activities are gaining momentum in the state ahead of the upcoming general elections. The Prime Minister is expected to inaugurate several projects and address a public rally during his visit. However, opposition leaders have raised concerns over what they describe as repeated announcements with little on-ground progress.
Lalu Prasad Yadav accused the BJP-led government at the Centre of not taking sufficient action to address unemployment, inflation, and the agrarian crisis. He questioned the development claims made by the ruling party and urged voters to look beyond political slogans and campaign rhetoric. According to Yadav, several promises made during previous visits to Bihar remain unfulfilled, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, education, and health services.
The RJD leader also alleged that the state continues to face economic challenges and rising inequality despite repeated assurances from the central leadership. He emphasized that elections should focus on real issues affecting the lives of ordinary citizens, rather than large-scale public events and speeches. Yadav’s remarks were met with applause from party workers, reflecting the growing political divide in Bihar.
While the BJP has not officially responded to Yadav’s comments, sources from the party dismissed the criticism as politically motivated. They maintain that the Prime Minister’s visit is aimed at boosting development initiatives in the state and ensuring that central schemes are effectively implemented at the grassroots level.
Political analysts suggest that the exchange between the two leaders reflects the intensifying rivalry between the BJP and RJD in Bihar. With elections drawing closer, both parties are stepping up efforts to influence public sentiment. Prime Minister Modi’s visit is expected to be strategically significant, particularly in constituencies where the BJP is aiming to consolidate its support base.
Meanwhile, RJD leaders have indicated that they will continue to hold public meetings and highlight what they claim are gaps in governance. They are also focusing on coalition strategies with like-minded parties to challenge the BJP’s dominance in the state.
As political activities heat up in Bihar, both national and regional leaders are expected to increase their outreach, with key issues such as development, employment, and social justice likely to dominate the campaign narrative.
