The Maharashtra government has formally sought a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry into the plane crash that resulted in the death of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis confirmed that a request has been made to Union Home Minister Amit Shah for a detailed and impartial probe by the central agency.
Addressing the media, the Chief Minister stated that the decision to seek a CBI investigation was taken in the interest of transparency and public confidence. He emphasised that given the high profile nature of the incident and the public concern surrounding it, a comprehensive inquiry by a central agency would help establish facts and remove any doubts.
The plane crash has sent shockwaves across Maharashtra and beyond. Senior political leaders, party members, and supporters have expressed grief over the loss. Ajit Pawar, a senior political figure in the state, held key responsibilities in the government, making the incident a matter of significant public interest.
According to preliminary reports, aviation authorities have begun examining technical and operational aspects related to the aircraft. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has initiated an audit of the aircraft company involved in the incident. Officials indicated that the audit will assess compliance with safety regulations, maintenance standards, and operational protocols.
The Chief Minister noted that state authorities are extending full cooperation to aviation regulators and investigative agencies. He reiterated that the objective of requesting a CBI probe is to ensure that the investigation is thorough, independent, and credible.
Legal experts observe that a CBI inquiry typically involves detailed examination of evidence, coordination with aviation authorities, and analysis of technical findings. The process may include forensic review, assessment of flight records, and interviews with relevant personnel.
The incident has also sparked discussions about aviation safety standards and regulatory oversight. Experts suggest that audits conducted by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation can help identify any systemic issues and recommend corrective measures if required.
While the state government awaits a response from the Union Home Ministry regarding the CBI request, political leaders across parties have called for patience and restraint until official findings are released. Authorities have urged the public to rely on verified information and avoid speculation.
As investigations proceed, the focus remains on determining the precise cause of the crash and ensuring accountability where necessary. The developments are expected to unfold in the coming weeks as agencies conduct detailed inquiries.
