The Ministry of Defence has announced the full implementation of a 100 percent increase in financial assistance under multiple welfare schemes for ex-servicemen and their families. These schemes are administered by the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare through the Kendriya Sainik Board, which plays a central role in providing support to veterans, widows, and dependents of armed forces personnel.

According to the Ministry of Defence, the revised financial assistance structure includes a doubling of the Penury Grant, which is aimed at providing relief to destitute veterans and their families facing financial hardship. In addition, Education Grants and Marriage Grants have also been significantly enhanced to better support the educational needs of children of ex-servicemen and assist families during marriage-related expenses.

The enhancement of these schemes reflects the government’s continued focus on strengthening the welfare framework for former service personnel. Officials said the revised assistance amounts are intended to address rising living and education costs while ensuring that veterans and their families receive timely and meaningful support. The Kendriya Sainik Board has been directed to ensure smooth implementation of the revised benefits across states and union territories.

The Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare oversees several schemes that provide financial, educational, and social assistance to former members of the armed forces. These initiatives are designed to support ex-servicemen during post-retirement life and to extend assistance to families of personnel who have served the nation. The latest enhancement is expected to benefit a large number of eligible beneficiaries across the country.

Defence officials noted that the decision aligns with the broader policy objective of honoring the service and sacrifices made by armed forces personnel. By strengthening welfare schemes, the government aims to improve the quality of life for veterans and ensure their well-being after active service.

Experts and veterans’ organizations have welcomed the move, stating that the increase in financial assistance will provide much-needed relief to economically vulnerable families. They also emphasized the importance of effective implementation and timely disbursement to ensure that benefits reach deserving beneficiaries without delays.

In conclusion, the Ministry of Defence’s implementation of a 100 percent hike in financial assistance under ex-servicemen welfare schemes marks a significant step toward reinforcing social security for veterans and their families. The enhanced grants under the Kendriya Sainik Board are expected to offer greater financial stability and reaffirm the nation’s commitment to those who have served in the armed forces.
