The Prime Minister also highlighted that the government’s economic policies are part of a broader strategy to ensure long-term stability and growth.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public programme in Guwahati, focusing on India’s economic resilience amid global uncertainties. During his speech, he criticized the Congress party for allegedly spreading rumors and misinformation that could undermine public confidence during times of international economic turbulence.

Modi drew a historical parallel, noting that former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had observed that the Korea War in the 1950s had contributed to inflationary pressures in India. By referencing past economic challenges, he underscored the need for strong and forward-looking policies to safeguard the nation against external shocks.

The Prime Minister highlighted several initiatives taken by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government to strengthen India’s economic and energy security. He emphasized ongoing efforts to expand and modernize the country’s energy infrastructure, aiming to reduce dependence on imported fuels and enhance domestic energy production. According to Modi, these measures not only stabilize supply but also help mitigate global price fluctuations that could impact Indian consumers.

In addition to energy security, Modi focused on agriculture and rural support. He noted that the government has implemented multiple schemes to provide financial support, subsidies, and insurance coverage for farmers. These initiatives are designed to protect farmers from sudden international price shocks, ensuring stable income and encouraging investment in agricultural productivity. Modi stressed that such proactive measures help maintain food security while sustaining rural livelihoods.

The Prime Minister also highlighted that the government’s economic policies are part of a broader strategy to ensure long-term stability and growth. Investments in infrastructure, renewable energy, and farm support programs are intended to buffer the economy from external uncertainties, enhance self-reliance, and create opportunities for employment and development across sectors.

Political analysts observing the speech noted that Modi’s remarks serve a dual purpose: addressing immediate concerns related to global economic challenges while reinforcing the government’s record on proactive policy measures. By citing historical examples and linking them to current strategies, the Prime Minister sought to demonstrate continuity and preparedness in economic governance.

Modi concluded his address by urging citizens and stakeholders to remain confident in India’s economic framework and institutional resilience. He reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting farmers, strengthening energy security, and ensuring that policy decisions are responsive to global developments, while emphasizing the importance of fact-based public discourse.
