Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has issued a stern warning against the influence of a "pseudo-secular syndicate" which he believes is actively working to undermine India’s rich cultural heritage and "Sanatan Sanskar" (eternal values). Speaking at a recent public event, Naqvi expressed concern over what he described as an attempt by certain political forces to distort India’s traditional values under the guise of secularism.
Naqvi, who is a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), emphasized that India’s strength lies in its age-old cultural traditions, which have been nurtured by centuries of rich spiritual and cultural heritage. He pointed out that these values, deeply rooted in Hinduism and other indigenous religions, are part of the very fabric of Indian society. He warned that efforts by certain groups to challenge or distort these values could lead to significant harm to the country's unity and spiritual integrity.
Addressing the rise of what he termed "pseudo-secularism," Naqvi cautioned that some sections of society and political outfits are using the banner of secularism to promote ideologies that, in reality, threaten the nation’s traditional way of life. He asserted that the values of secularism and pluralism in India should be grounded in respect for its historical and cultural roots, rather than being manipulated for political gains.
The Minister's remarks come in the backdrop of a broader political discourse surrounding India’s secularism and its connection to Hindu traditions. Naqvi’s comments also echo the ongoing political debates over the importance of preserving the "Sanatan Sanskar" amid rising discussions about religious identity and nationalism in India. Naqvi emphasized that the term "Sanatan" represents a timeless and inclusive understanding of India's cultural values, which transcend religious boundaries.
Naqvi called on citizens to recognize the dangers posed by divisive forces and stay united to safeguard the country’s cultural and spiritual legacy. He urged the people to reaffirm their commitment to the values of "Sanatan Sanskar," which he described as fundamental to the nation's identity and prosperity.
In his speech, Naqvi also praised the efforts of the BJP-led government in upholding India’s cultural heritage and ensuring that traditional values are promoted in national policies. He pointed to various initiatives by the government that, according to him, protect and promote the country’s spiritual and cultural identity. These include efforts to preserve ancient monuments, promote religious tourism, and ensure that India’s traditional values are included in the modern political discourse.
The warning against "pseudo-secularism" has further fueled the ongoing debate over the role of religion in Indian politics. Naqvi's comments highlight a growing divide in Indian political thought, with some factions advocating for a more inclusive and secular approach, while others, like the BJP, emphasize the preservation of traditional Hindu values as central to India’s identity.
In conclusion, Naqvi urged the Indian populace to remain vigilant and protect the nation’s cultural legacy, which he believes is being threatened by forces attempting to redefine India's traditional ethos. His statement has sparked widespread discussion about the future of secularism and nationalism in India, with proponents of both sides eager to defend their views on what constitutes India’s true identity.
