In his statement, Lokesh emphasized that Andhra Pradesh offers a business-friendly environment, reliable infrastructure, and a growing network of industrial corridors, especially the Visakhapatnam-Chennai and Chennai-Bengaluru corridors.

Andhra Pradesh’s Minister for Information Technology and Industries, Nara Lokesh, has taken a proactive step in positioning the state as a potential destination for a major aerospace park, after Karnataka withdrew from a proposed land acquisition plan intended for the same purpose.

The original aerospace park was planned in Karnataka to attract investments from major global and domestic aerospace and defense companies. However, due to administrative and logistical hurdles, Karnataka recently announced the cancellation of land acquisition for the project. Seeing this as a strategic opportunity, Nara Lokesh swiftly extended an invitation to the aerospace sector to consider Andhra Pradesh as an ideal location for their investment.

In his statement, Lokesh emphasized that Andhra Pradesh offers a business-friendly environment, reliable infrastructure, and a growing network of industrial corridors, especially the Visakhapatnam-Chennai and Chennai-Bengaluru corridors. He pointed out that the state has already established itself as an emerging destination for electronics manufacturing, renewable energy, and IT services, and is now prepared to expand into aerospace and defense manufacturing.

He further assured that the Andhra Pradesh government is ready to provide necessary support, including suitable land, speedy clearances, and tailored incentive packages for companies willing to invest in the state. Lokesh stated that Andhra Pradesh can meet the requirements of large-scale industrial projects and offers a stable political and economic climate to encourage long-term investments.

This proposal from Andhra Pradesh comes at a time when competition among Indian states to attract high-value industrial projects is increasing. The aerospace sector is seen as a high-potential area due to the central government’s push for defense indigenization, increasing demand for domestic air travel, and the Make in India initiative. By offering Andhra Pradesh as a viable option, Lokesh aims to align the state with national goals while boosting regional economic development.

Industry experts believe this move could help Andhra Pradesh attract significant interest from global aerospace firms, particularly those looking to expand their footprint in India. The availability of skilled labor, access to ports, and state government initiatives for industrial growth are seen as strong advantages for companies evaluating new sites.

Nara Lokesh’s initiative is also seen as part of a larger vision to create employment opportunities and strengthen the state’s economy through targeted industrial development. By responding promptly to the developments in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh hopes to position itself as not just an alternative but a preferred destination for advanced technology industries.

The final decision now rests with aerospace investors, but Andhra Pradesh’s proactive approach may provide the competitive edge needed to secure the project and place the state on the aerospace map of India.
