During a recent event, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari restated his claim of being offered the Prime Minister's position "multiple times" before and after the Lok Sabha elections. Speaking at the India Today Conclave, Gadkari revealed that these offers were made by both ruling and opposition parties. He, however, stressed that his priority has always been his ideology, and not personal ambition. "To become the prime minister is not my aim in life," Gadkari said, adding that he remains committed to his political convictions and will not compromise them for any post.
This declaration reignited discussions about his role in Indian politics, with opposition leaders, including Priyanka Chaturvedi of Shiv Sena (UBT), weighing in. Chaturvedi speculated that Gadkari's comments might reflect an internal message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while emphasizing that the INDIA alliance has many leaders capable of leading the country.
Gadkari’s statement follows his earlier comments about receiving support from an opposition leader for the PM role, which he also rejected in favor of his ideological commitments. His recent remarks continue to fuel conversations about potential power shifts within the political landscape.
