On the occasion of Vishwakarma Puja, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced a major welfare initiative for the state’s workforce. A total of Rs 802 crore has been transferred directly into the bank accounts of 16.4 lakh workers across Bihar. The initiative is part of the state government’s continued efforts to provide financial support to laborers engaged in both skilled and unskilled work.
Officials confirmed that the transfer covers multiple government schemes aimed at improving the livelihood and welfare of workers. The state administration ensured that all eligible beneficiaries received the amount directly in their accounts, minimizing delays and bureaucratic hurdles. This timely disbursement aims to support workers and their families, especially those affected by economic challenges in recent years.
The Chief Minister emphasized that Vishwakarma Puja is an occasion to honor workers and artisans, recognizing their contribution to the state’s economy and development. He highlighted that the initiative is not only a financial relief measure but also a step toward acknowledging the vital role of the labor community in Bihar.
Authorities reported that the fund will benefit workers in various sectors including construction, manufacturing, and small-scale industries. The government has been consistently working to improve social security measures and streamline the process of financial aid distribution to ensure transparency and efficiency.
The announcement also included assurances that similar welfare measures will continue throughout the year, aiming to strengthen support for laborers and their families. By directly crediting the amount into accounts, the administration seeks to prevent delays and ensure that workers can access the benefits without unnecessary complications.
The Bihar government has previously implemented several schemes to provide assistance, including financial support for health, education, and housing. This latest initiative demonstrates the administration’s commitment to worker welfare and economic stability in the state. It also serves as a morale booster for the workforce, reinforcing the government’s recognition of their contribution.
Experts noted that direct fund transfers help build trust between the government and citizens while reducing dependency on intermediaries. This model has been praised for its efficiency and effectiveness in reaching beneficiaries promptly. The large-scale transfer of Rs 802 crore is considered one of the significant steps taken by the Bihar government toward economic relief for laborers.
With this initiative, Nitish Kumar’s administration aims to set an example of proactive governance, ensuring financial security for workers while celebrating Vishwakarma Puja as a festival that honors labor, skill, and dedication.
