Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent appearance on Lex Fridman's podcast has sparked political controversy, with the Congress party launching a fresh attack on his media engagements. Using the phrase "Hypo(d)crisy ki koi seema nahi hai," Congress leaders alleged that while Modi avoids direct press interactions in India, he is keen on giving interviews to international platforms.

Senior Congress leaders criticized the Prime Minister for consistently skipping press conferences since taking office in 2014. They questioned why Modi, who claims to champion democracy and transparency, has not held a single unscripted press conference with Indian journalists. Congress leaders pointed out that while he is open to discussions with foreign podcasters and journalists, he remains inaccessible to the national media.

The opposition party further alleged that Modi carefully curates his public appearances and media engagements to avoid tough questions on pressing issues such as unemployment, inflation, and governance challenges. The podcast with Lex Fridman, which covered topics like Indian culture, AI, and global leadership, was seen by critics as a calculated move to shape his international image rather than address domestic concerns.

Meanwhile, BJP leaders defended Modi's media approach, stating that he communicates with the public through various means, including Mann Ki Baat, social media, and speeches at public events. They dismissed Congress’s allegations as an attempt to distract from their own leadership crisis and lack of public connect.

As the 2024 general elections draw closer, media engagement and communication strategies are likely to remain a focal point of political discourse. The debate over Modi’s selective press interactions continues to fuel opposition attacks, with Congress determined to highlight what they call his "controlled narrative" approach.

The opposition party further alleged that Modi carefully curates his public appearances and media engagements to avoid tough questions on pressing issues such as unemployment, inflation, and governance challenges.
