He noted that governments need to focus on both short-term relief measures and long-term structural reforms to ensure sustainable growth.

Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah addressed concerns regarding the expectations from a newly elected government’s first budget. He stated that a government with a five-year mandate cannot be expected to resolve all pressing issues immediately, as policymaking and execution require time and strategic planning.

Speaking to the media, Abdullah emphasized that while the budget is a crucial financial roadmap, it is unrealistic to assume that every economic and developmental challenge can be tackled in a single fiscal plan. He noted that governments need to focus on both short-term relief measures and long-term structural reforms to ensure sustainable growth.

He further pointed out that the public should have practical expectations from the budget, while also holding the administration accountable for the commitments made during election campaigns. According to him, the budget should focus on job creation, infrastructure development, social welfare, and economic stability.

Abdullah also remarked that while citizens expect immediate relief in various sectors, some policy measures take years to deliver results. He urged policymakers to strike a balance between addressing urgent concerns and laying the foundation for long-term development.

His statement comes amid discussions about India's economic priorities and the challenges facing different sectors. With growing demands from industries, taxpayers, and marginalized communities, the government is under pressure to deliver a well-balanced budget that caters to diverse needs. Abdullah’s remarks highlight the importance of measured governance and phased implementation of policies over the government’s full tenure.
