Union Minister and senior BJP leader Piyush Goyal said the campaign launch would focus on highlighting what he described as failures of the DMK government.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will formally launch the National Democratic Alliance election campaign in Tamil Nadu on Friday with a major public rally at Maduranthakam in Chengalpattu district. The event is expected to set the tone for the alliance’s high intensity campaign as political parties gear up for the upcoming elections in the state.

According to BJP leaders, the Maduranthakam rally will be the first in a series of public meetings planned across Tamil Nadu as part of the NDA’s outreach to voters. The Prime Minister’s participation underscores the importance the BJP is placing on strengthening its presence in the state through alliance politics.

AIADMK general secretary and former Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami is also expected to attend the rally, signalling coordination between the BJP and its key ally in Tamil Nadu. The joint appearance is seen as an effort to project unity within the alliance and consolidate support among voters who back the NDA.

Union Minister and senior BJP leader Piyush Goyal said the campaign launch would focus on highlighting what he described as failures of the DMK government. He stated that the NDA’s objective was to bring effective governance, development, and transparency to Tamil Nadu. Goyal added that the alliance would present a clear alternative vision for the state, centred on economic growth, infrastructure development, and welfare delivery.

The BJP has been working to expand its political footprint in Tamil Nadu, a state where regional parties have traditionally dominated electoral politics. By aligning with the AIADMK and other partners, the NDA aims to strengthen its position and appeal to a broader section of voters.

The ruling DMK government, led by Chief Minister M K Stalin, has consistently defended its record on governance, welfare schemes, and social justice. The party has also been critical of the Centre over issues such as fund allocation, language policy, and federal rights. With the election campaign officially underway, sharp political exchanges between the NDA and the DMK are expected to intensify.

Political analysts note that the Prime Minister’s rally at Maduranthakam is strategically significant, as it targets a region with mixed urban and rural voters. The BJP is expected to highlight central government initiatives, national development programmes, and leadership stability as part of its campaign messaging.

As campaigning gains momentum, voters in Tamil Nadu are likely to witness frequent visits by national and state level leaders from both sides. The upcoming election is expected to focus on governance performance, development priorities, centre state relations, and alliance strength.

The Maduranthakam rally marks the start of what is anticipated to be a closely watched and highly competitive political contest in Tamil Nadu.
