President Droupadi Murmu completed three years in office this week and commemorated the occasion by unveiling a series of developmental and community-focused initiatives at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The President emphasized inclusive progress, sustainable development, and national unity during the official function attended by government officials, members of civil society, and invited guests.
In her address, President Murmu reflected on her journey as the first tribal woman to hold the highest constitutional office in India. She expressed gratitude to the people of India for their continued support and reaffirmed her commitment to upholding democratic values. Highlighting the importance of reaching every section of society, she announced programs focused on environmental conservation, education, and heritage awareness.
One of the key initiatives launched includes a green sustainability drive within the premises of Rashtrapati Bhavan. Under this plan, additional measures will be taken to reduce carbon footprint, enhance water conservation efforts, and promote organic gardening. President Murmu stated that such steps reflect the government's broader goal of building an environmentally responsible future.
Another important announcement involved the expansion of the "Knowledge Garden" project, a platform designed to encourage school and college students to visit Rashtrapati Bhavan and learn about India's constitutional framework, democratic structure, and cultural diversity. This initiative is expected to bring students from various parts of the country closer to the spirit of public service and civic awareness.
The President also inaugurated a cultural exhibition showcasing India’s tribal art, history, and contribution to national development. Organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, the exhibition aims to highlight the rich traditions and resilience of indigenous communities. The President expressed hope that greater visibility of tribal heritage will promote understanding and inclusiveness across all communities.
A new phase of the “Rashtrapati Bhavan Samvad Series” was also announced, which will feature public interactions, discussions, and workshops with experts in fields such as climate change, innovation, rural development, and women empowerment. The program is designed to make the Rashtrapati Bhavan a hub of learning and citizen engagement beyond ceremonial functions.
Senior officials from the President’s Secretariat stated that these initiatives reflect President Murmu’s vision of a participatory and development-oriented approach to leadership. The Rashtrapati Bhavan, once largely viewed as a symbol of protocol and power, is increasingly being shaped into a space of public outreach and national dialogue under her leadership.
President Murmu concluded her address by reiterating her belief that the true strength of India lies in its people. She called on citizens, especially youth, to play an active role in building a progressive, compassionate, and inclusive nation.
The celebration of her three-year milestone continues through various public activities, educational programs, and cultural events at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the coming days.
