The Congress leader claimed that the BJP’s influence over the panel’s formation was clear, and suggested that the committee’s composition undermines the principles of fairness, transparency, and inclusivity.

Priyank Kharge, senior Congress leader, has raised strong objections to the formation of the Waqf joint panel, accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of sponsoring a biased and politically motivated committee. Speaking at a press conference, Kharge condemned the panel’s composition, arguing that it does not represent the diverse views and interests of the Muslim community or the Waqf institutions.

The Congress leader claimed that the BJP’s influence over the panel’s formation was clear, and suggested that the committee’s composition undermines the principles of fairness, transparency, and inclusivity. Kharge emphasized that such actions not only harm the integrity of the Waqf Board but also represent an attempt to manipulate religious and social institutions for political gain.

This criticism comes at a time when the Waqf Board's role in managing religious properties has been a subject of debate, with various political factions accusing each other of interfering in its functioning. Kharge’s comments reflect the ongoing political discourse surrounding the functioning of religious institutions and their role in governance. The Congress party has vowed to continue challenging what it sees as undue political influence over these bodies.
