Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi has raised serious concerns over the failure to apprehend the terrorists responsible for the recent attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi has raised serious concerns over the failure to apprehend the terrorists responsible for the recent attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. In a sharp critique of the government’s internal security mechanism, she questioned the intelligence preparedness and suggested that the attack may have links to Pakistan-based terror groups.

Speaking to the media, Chaturvedi highlighted that several days after the attack, there has been no concrete development regarding the identification or capture of those involved. “The terrorists who carried out the deadly strike in Pahalgam are still at large. This raises serious concerns over the intelligence inputs and surveillance on the ground,” she said.

The Pahalgam incident, which led to casualties and disrupted the fragile peace in the region, has reignited political debate over the government’s counter-terrorism strategy. While investigations are ongoing, the absence of credible leads or arrests has prompted criticism from opposition leaders who are demanding more accountability and efficiency from security agencies.

Chaturvedi questioned how militants could plan and execute an attack in a high-security zone without being detected. She pointed to what she described as systemic gaps in the intelligence infrastructure and urged the central government to take urgent steps to address the vulnerabilities.

“There seems to be a pattern of reactive governance when it comes to such incidents. Instead of proactive measures to prevent terror activities, we are left responding after the damage is done,” she said. “This approach undermines the faith of citizens in the state’s ability to protect them.”

She also pointed to the possible involvement of foreign-based terror outfits, suggesting that cross-border elements could be behind the attack. “There are serious concerns that this act of violence may have external backing. If there are links to groups operating from across the border, it is crucial that diplomatic and strategic actions be taken alongside internal investigation,” she added.

The Shiv Sena MP urged the Ministry of Home Affairs to provide regular updates on the status of the investigation and to ensure coordination between intelligence agencies at both the state and national level. She emphasized the need for modern technology, better training, and increased vigilance in vulnerable regions like Kashmir.

In response, government sources stated that the security forces were actively pursuing all leads and that high-level reviews of the situation were underway. However, no official timeline has been given regarding arrests or conclusions in the case.

Chaturvedi’s remarks reflect growing concern in political circles over the recent spike in terror-related incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, despite several high-profile operations by security forces in the past year. The demand for transparency and effective counterterrorism measures is gaining momentum as both citizens and opposition leaders seek reassurances about national security.

As the search continues, political pressure is mounting for the government to demonstrate concrete results and prevent future attacks in the sensitive border region.

“This approach undermines the faith of citizens in the state’s ability to protect them.” She also pointed to the possible involvement of foreign-based terror outfits, suggesting that cross-border elements could be behind the attack.
