Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has raised fresh allegations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of shielding billionaire businessman Gautam Adani after the latter was indicted in a US bribery case. Gandhi, who has been a vocal critic of the ruling government, demanded that Adani be arrested, alleging that Modi’s government was protecting the industrialist from legal consequences.
In a statement, Gandhi linked the ongoing legal issues faced by Adani with the close ties between the billionaire and Modi, further fueling his claims of crony capitalism. The allegations came in light of the recent indictment of Adani in the US, where he has been accused of bribery and other financial misconduct.
Gandhi's call for action against Adani follows a series of controversial remarks regarding the billionaire’s business dealings, which have sparked a wider political debate. The Congress leader urged the Indian government to take immediate steps to address the allegations, citing the need for transparency and accountability in the country’s business practices.
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has yet to respond to Gandhi’s latest allegations. However, the political fallout from these remarks is expected to continue, with both parties preparing for further scrutiny of Adani’s business empire.
