Sambhal Member of Parliament (MP) Ziaur Rahman Barq has been booked by the police for allegedly inciting violence during clashes that occurred amidst a mosque survey. The incident took place when a survey team visited a mosque, leading to tension and a violent confrontation between locals and the survey team.
The authorities have launched an investigation into Barq’s involvement in the clashes, with reports suggesting that his presence and comments may have sparked further unrest. The violence has raised concerns regarding the safety of such surveys and the potential for communal tensions in the region.
Barq, a prominent leader from the Samajwadi Party, has denied any involvement in the violence and stated that the incident was a result of misunderstandings between locals and authorities. However, the police have stated that they will continue with their investigation to determine the extent of his role in the situation.
The incident highlights the ongoing challenges in managing religious and communal relations, particularly when government teams conduct surveys that may be perceived as contentious by certain communities. This development has sparked widespread discussions on social media and in political circles, as it raises questions about the role of politicians in maintaining peace during sensitive situations.
