Sanjay Raut Says NCP (SP) Aligning with Ajit Pawar’s NCP Would Resemble Joining Hands with BJP

While Ajit Pawar’s faction has occasionally collaborated with the BJP in government formation, Sharad Pawar’s group has positioned itself as a part of the opposition and seeks to maintain an independent stance.

Shiv Sena leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut has voiced concerns over the possible alignment of Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP) with the faction led by Ajit Pawar, suggesting that such a coalition could be perceived as aligning with the BJP in Maharashtra.

Speaking at a press briefing, Raut highlighted that Maharashtra’s political scenario is already fragmented due to multiple factions claiming legitimacy. He said that any partnership between the two NCP groups could inadvertently strengthen the BJP’s position in the state, potentially affecting the anti-BJP coalition and regional political dynamics.

Raut pointed out that the NCP has split into factions after internal disagreements, with Sharad Pawar leading one group and his nephew Ajit Pawar heading another. While Ajit Pawar’s faction has occasionally collaborated with the BJP in government formation, Sharad Pawar’s group has positioned itself as a part of the opposition and seeks to maintain an independent stance. According to Raut, merging these contrasting approaches could blur political lines and reduce clarity for voters in upcoming elections.

The Shiv Sena leader also emphasized the importance of regional parties maintaining a united front to counter the BJP’s growing influence in Maharashtra. He expressed concern that internal alignments within the NCP might weaken the anti-BJP narrative, thereby benefiting the ruling party at both the state and national levels.

Raut reaffirmed Shiv Sena’s commitment to its current alliances and political agenda. He stressed that the party would continue to prioritize governance issues, public welfare, and maintaining a stable coalition in the state. Additionally, he urged other regional parties to focus on collaboration and strategic planning to ensure a balanced political environment that resists single-party dominance.

Political analysts suggest that Maharashtra’s complex coalition politics often involves shifting alliances and tactical negotiations. Raut’s statement underscores the cautious approach regional parties are taking to preserve their political identity while managing relationships with larger national parties. The statement also reflects ongoing debates within the NCP regarding leadership, ideological alignment, and future electoral strategies.

As Maharashtra prepares for future state-level and national elections, the positioning of regional parties like the NCP, Shiv Sena, and other allies will play a crucial role in shaping the state’s political landscape. Observers note that statements like Raut’s are aimed at consolidating support among anti-BJP factions while discouraging moves that could inadvertently strengthen the ruling party’s influence.

The political discourse in Maharashtra continues to evolve, with party leaders monitoring both internal dynamics and public sentiment. Analysts suggest that the coming months will be critical in determining how alliances and factional decisions impact governance and electoral outcomes in the state.

According to Raut, merging these contrasting approaches could blur political lines and reduce clarity for voters in upcoming elections.
