Whether or not these meetings hint at a larger political shift remains to be seen, but for now, Supriya Sule's statement aims to calm speculation and redirect focus toward policy-oriented dialogue.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP Supriya Sule has responded to growing political chatter surrounding the recent meeting between her uncle, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, and her father, NCP founder Sharad Pawar. The meeting sparked fresh speculation about a potential rapprochement or political realignment within the divided NCP.

However, Sule, who belongs to the Sharad Pawar-led faction of the party, dismissed any such conjecture. Speaking to reporters, she clarified that the two leaders often meet and communicate due to their long-standing familial and political ties.

“They keep meeting over work-related issues. This is nothing new,” Sule said.

“When two leaders from the same background and with years of experience in governance meet, it’s natural that they talk about development and policy, not politics alone,” she added.

The meeting comes at a sensitive time for Maharashtra politics, with upcoming state elections and ongoing friction between the factions of the NCP. Ajit Pawar leads the rival faction of the party and currently holds a key position in the Maharashtra government alongside the BJP.

Political analysts have closely watched developments involving the Pawar family since the party split in 2023. While Ajit Pawar aligned with the ruling coalition, Sharad Pawar continued to lead the original NCP faction, aligning with the INDIA bloc at the national level.

Supriya Sule, who has maintained a firm stand with her father, reiterated that meetings within a family, even among political leaders, should not be overinterpreted. She urged the media to focus on substantive issues like governance, policy, and public welfare.

She also emphasized that discussions between the two Pawars often revolve around agriculture, state finances, and administrative priorities — areas both have deep knowledge and interest in.

“Our family has always been open about our public roles. There's no hidden agenda behind two experienced leaders talking,” she said.

Observers suggest that despite the political split, there remains a channel of communication between the factions, which may benefit both sides in terms of collaboration on non-political issues like development and state administration.

Whether or not these meetings hint at a larger political shift remains to be seen, but for now, Supriya Sule's statement aims to calm speculation and redirect focus toward policy-oriented dialogue.
