Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will begin a two-day official visit to New Delhi with the objective of seeking the central government’s support for several key infrastructure and development projects in the state. This visit comes at a crucial time when Telangana is working to fast-track its economic and social development agenda.
During the visit, the Chief Minister is scheduled to meet with senior Union Ministers, including those heading departments such as Finance, Water Resources, Road Transport, and Rural Development. He is expected to present the state's requirements and seek approvals and financial support for projects related to irrigation, road connectivity, power infrastructure, and urban development.
Officials in the Telangana government have indicated that one of the top priorities during this visit will be to request clearances and assistance for irrigation projects, including those under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana. The Chief Minister is also likely to raise issues related to national highway expansion in the state, pending railway projects, and funding delays under central welfare schemes such as PM Awas Yojana and Jal Jeevan Mission.
Revanth Reddy is expected to emphasize the importance of cooperative federalism and urge the Centre to provide equitable support for Telangana, similar to other states. In recent months, Telangana has been focusing on rebuilding its financial position, addressing infrastructure gaps, and improving public service delivery. The Chief Minister aims to position Telangana as a progressive and investment-friendly state, and support from the central government is seen as vital to that goal.
In addition to project-specific discussions, the Chief Minister may also use the opportunity to discuss issues related to revenue devolution, pending GST compensation, and allocations under centrally sponsored schemes. The Telangana government has repeatedly highlighted the need for more flexible funding and greater autonomy in implementing development programs.
The visit also carries political significance, as it marks one of the early outreach efforts by Revanth Reddy after assuming office as Chief Minister. Strengthening ties with the central leadership and ensuring alignment on policy and administrative matters are seen as strategic steps to ensure smoother execution of development initiatives.
State officials accompanying the Chief Minister will also hold parallel meetings with central departments to provide detailed presentations and seek technical approvals. These interactions are aimed at resolving bottlenecks that have delayed key projects and to present updated progress reports on various ongoing schemes.
Observers note that the outcome of this visit will likely impact Telangana’s budget planning and project implementation over the next few quarters. It will also set the tone for future state-centre cooperation, especially as Telangana positions itself for long-term growth and sustainability.
The Chief Minister is scheduled to return to Hyderabad after completing the meetings, following which the state government is expected to release a detailed update on the outcomes and agreements reached during the visit.
