Union Minister for Civil Aviation and Steel, Jyotiraditya Scindia, extended a warm welcome to Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the inaugural session of the Rising Northeast Investors Summit held in New Delhi. The summit brought together industry leaders, policymakers, investors, and key stakeholders to discuss strategies for accelerating economic growth and investment in the northeastern region of India.

It aims to attract both domestic and international investors to explore the vast potential of the region, which is rich in natural resources and offers strategic access to Southeast Asia.

He praised the leadership of Prime Minister Modi for his vision of inclusive growth and sustainable development in the region.

Prime Minister Modi, in his keynote speech, emphasized the need to harness the Northeast's unique geographical and cultural diversity. He noted that the region has seen substantial progress in the last decade in areas such as roadways, railways, airports, and digital connectivity. “The government is committed to turning the Northeast into a gateway of India’s trade and commerce with Southeast Asia,” he stated.

PM Modi also announced several new policy measures and incentives for investors willing to set up industries in the northeastern states. These include tax benefits, ease of doing business initiatives, and improved logistics through upgraded infrastructure. The summit is expected to catalyze investments in sectors such as agriculture, tourism, IT, textiles, and clean energy.

During the event, multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between the government and private sector players. These agreements are projected to bring in significant investment and generate employment opportunities across Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim.

Industry experts and participants at the summit applauded the government’s proactive approach. Panel discussions and breakout sessions focused on topics like green energy, agro-based industries, skill development, and startup ecosystems in the Northeast. The summit also included exhibitions showcasing regional products, startups, and innovation from the eight states.
