Senior political figure V K Sasikala has announced that the name of her newly launched political party will be officially revealed within a week. Speaking in Chennai, she said that the party is preparing to enter the political arena with the intention of playing a significant role in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
Sasikala stated that despite the limited time available before the upcoming elections, she is confident about building an effective party structure. She noted that her long association with Tamil Nadu politics has made her widely known among the public, and therefore she does not anticipate difficulty in reaching voters across the state. According to her, the groundwork for the party is already underway and further organisational details will be shared soon.
During a recent public event in Ramanathapuram, Sasikala unveiled the flag of the new political outfit. The flag features horizontal stripes of black, white and red. It is embossed with portraits of prominent Dravidian leaders, including former Chief Ministers C N Annadurai, M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa. The inclusion of these leaders reflects an attempt to align the new party with the broader Dravidian political tradition that has shaped Tamil Nadu’s political landscape for decades.
Tamil Nadu politics has historically been influenced by Dravidian ideology, with major parties drawing inspiration from leaders such as Annadurai and M G Ramachandran. J Jayalalithaa, who served multiple terms as Chief Minister, also remains a significant political figure in the state’s recent history. By incorporating their images into the party flag, Sasikala appears to be signalling ideological continuity and appealing to supporters familiar with that legacy.
When asked about the challenge of establishing a strong party apparatus within a short period, Sasikala maintained that public recognition and grassroots connections would facilitate mobilisation efforts. She emphasised that organisational expansion and cadre building would be prioritised in the coming months.
Political observers note that the announcement of a new party ahead of an Assembly election is a significant development in Tamil Nadu’s political scenario. The state is expected to witness competitive electoral activity as parties prepare strategies and alliances for the 2026 polls. The formal announcement of the party’s name is anticipated to provide further clarity regarding its vision, leadership structure and policy priorities.
As preparations continue, attention will remain focused on how the new party positions itself within the broader political framework of the state. Further details regarding its organisational structure and electoral plans are expected following the official announcement of its name.
