West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday issued a strong statement regarding the alleged conspiracy in Murshidabad, pledging to bring the truth to light. The remarks came during a political rally in the district where Banerjee addressed growing concerns over recent incidents that have sparked political tension.
Speaking to a large gathering, Banerjee said, “We will not allow anyone to disturb the peace of Murshidabad. Those involved in this conspiracy will be identified and exposed. The law will take its own course, and justice will be delivered.”
Political Underpinnings Alleged
Although Banerjee refrained from naming any particular party or group, she hinted at the involvement of external forces aiming to create unrest in the area. "There is a deliberate plan to incite violence and communal disharmony. We have seen these tactics before, and we will not let them succeed this time,” she stated.
Her comments come amid a series of reported incidents in Murshidabad that include clashes between local groups, misinformation campaigns, and the circulation of inflammatory content on social media. Banerjee accused her political rivals of trying to gain mileage ahead of the upcoming elections by inciting fear among the people.
Government to Strengthen Surveillance
The Chief Minister has instructed state intelligence agencies to intensify their monitoring in sensitive areas. Additional security personnel have been deployed in Murshidabad to maintain law and order.
“We are not just making statements. We have already launched a detailed inquiry and are collecting evidence. Whoever is behind this will be punished, regardless of their political affiliations,” Banerjee added.
Opposition Reacts
The opposition has dismissed Banerjee's claims as politically motivated. BJP leaders in the state have accused the Trinamool Congress government of trying to divert attention from local governance failures by fabricating conspiracy narratives.
However, Banerjee reiterated that her administration remains committed to maintaining peace and harmony. She also urged the public not to fall for rumours and misinformation being circulated online.

Mamata Banerjee concluded her address by appealing to the people of Murshidabad to remain calm and cooperative. “We are with you. Do not fear. Truth and justice will prevail,” she said.
