West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chairperson Mamata Banerjee on Thursday marked the party’s foundation day with a strong message of resolve and commitment. Addressing party workers and supporters, Banerjee stated that the Trinamool Congress would continue to stand with the people and would not bow before what she termed “malevolent forces.”
Extending greetings on the occasion, Banerjee highlighted the journey of the Trinamool Congress since its inception. She recalled that the party was founded with the objective of protecting democratic values and giving a voice to the people of West Bengal. According to her, the party’s growth over the years has been rooted in grassroots support and sustained public engagement.
In her address, Banerjee emphasized that the Trinamool Congress remains focused on issues related to development, social justice, and welfare. She said the party would continue to fight for the rights of farmers, workers, women, and marginalized communities. Stressing the importance of unity, she urged party members to remain disciplined and committed to public service.
Banerjee’s remarks come at a time when the Trinamool Congress is navigating a competitive political environment, both at the state and national levels. Without naming specific opponents, she referred to “malevolent forces” and reiterated that the party would not compromise on its values or principles under pressure.
The chief minister also acknowledged the role of party workers in strengthening the Trinamool Congress. She praised their dedication and resilience, noting that their efforts have helped the party overcome challenges and maintain its presence as a key political force in West Bengal. Banerjee encouraged them to continue engaging with people at the grassroots level and addressing local concerns.
Foundation day celebrations were observed across the state, with party leaders and workers participating in meetings, outreach programmes, and social initiatives. Several senior leaders also took to social media to extend greetings and highlight the party’s achievements over the years.
Political observers note that Banerjee’s message on the foundation day reflects the Trinamool Congress’s attempt to reinforce its core narrative of resistance and people-centric governance. As the party looks ahead, maintaining organizational unity and public trust will remain central to its strategy.
The Trinamool Congress was founded in 1998 and has since played a significant role in West Bengal politics. Under Mamata Banerjee’s leadership, the party has formed the state government multiple times. Her foundation day address once again underscored the party’s intent to remain steadfast in its political approach and continue its engagement with the electorate.
