In response to these claims, the TDP has denied any involvement, calling the allegations politically motivated and aimed at tarnishing its reputation ahead of upcoming elections.

Tirupati:

A YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Member of Parliament has raised serious allegations of illegal liquor sales operating in Tirupati, directly accusing the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) of orchestrating the unlawful activities. The MP has called on law enforcement and regulatory authorities to take immediate action to investigate and dismantle these networks.

According to the YSRCP MP, the illegal liquor trade has been flourishing under the protection of certain individuals affiliated with the TDP, undermining government efforts to regulate alcohol sales and control social issues related to substance abuse. The allegations include unlicensed manufacturing, distribution, and sale of liquor that circumvents government regulations and taxation.

The MP pointed out that despite repeated complaints from citizens and activists, the illicit operations have continued unabated, causing harm to families and communities in Tirupati. The illegal liquor is often sold at cheaper rates, attracting vulnerable sections of society and contributing to health and safety risks.

Speaking to the media, the MP emphasized that the ruling party is committed to eradicating illegal liquor trade and ensuring compliance with the law. “The illegal liquor menace must be tackled head-on, and those responsible, irrespective of political affiliation, should be held accountable,” the MP stated.

In response to these claims, the TDP has denied any involvement, calling the allegations politically motivated and aimed at tarnishing its reputation ahead of upcoming elections. The party urged the authorities to conduct a fair and impartial investigation to establish the facts.

Local police officials have acknowledged receipt of the complaints and confirmed that preliminary inquiries are underway. They have assured that all necessary steps will be taken to curb illegal activities and maintain law and order in the region.

Experts highlight that illegal liquor sales not only affect government revenue but also lead to increased criminal activities and public health challenges. Effective enforcement and community participation are crucial to address these issues.

The Andhra Pradesh government has previously implemented strict measures to regulate liquor sales, including licensing controls and awareness campaigns. However, the persistence of illicit trade indicates gaps in enforcement that need urgent attention.

Civil society organizations and citizen groups in Tirupati have welcomed the YSRCP MP’s allegations, urging authorities to act swiftly. They have also called for greater transparency and stronger monitoring mechanisms to prevent illegal sales.

The issue of illegal liquor trade has been a recurring concern in many parts of Andhra Pradesh, often linked to political patronage and corruption. Addressing this problem is seen as vital for ensuring public safety and promoting social welfare.

As investigations proceed, the focus remains on ensuring accountability and restoring public confidence in law enforcement agencies. The government’s stance on illegal liquor will be closely watched by both political observers and the general public.

This development adds to the ongoing political discourse in Andhra Pradesh, where liquor policies and law enforcement are frequently debated topics, particularly during election periods.

The situation in Tirupati serves as a reminder of the challenges in balancing regulation, enforcement, and political dynamics in addressing illegal activities.
