BJP President Nitin Nabin Criticises Rahul Gandhi Over Election Commission Protests

The Congress has been pressing its concerns through protests and political campaigns, while the BJP has defended the election machinery and criticised the opposition’s approach.

Bharatiya Janata Party national president Nitin Nabin has criticised Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over the Congress-led protests against the Election Commission.

Speaking in Varanasi, Nabin accused Gandhi of having what he described as an “anarchist mindset” and alleged that his actions were contributing to political tension in the country. His remarks came a day after Gandhi led INDIA bloc leaders in a street protest against the Election Commission. Gandhi and several other Members of Parliament were detained by police during the protest.

Nabin questioned Gandhi’s criticism of the Election Commission and argued that the same election authority had conducted elections in states where Congress and its allies had participated in the electoral process. He referred to elections in Kerala and Tamil Nadu while questioning the Congress leader’s objections to the Election Commission.

The BJP president also challenged Gandhi to resign if he had serious objections to the functioning of the Election Commission. Nabin said that the public was watching the manner in which Gandhi was conducting his political campaign and protests. These comments were part of the BJP’s broader criticism of the Congress leader’s campaign against the Election Commission.

The Congress has been demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The demand followed reports concerning objections raised by Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi over certain decisions and orders, many of which were related to the Special Intensive Revision process.

The Election Commission, however, has maintained that differences of opinion and observations are part of institutional deliberations. The commission has also stated that its orders have legal backing and are issued in accordance with established statutory procedures.

The dispute has therefore developed into a wider political confrontation between the Congress and the BJP over the functioning of the Election Commission and issues connected with electoral rolls.

During his remarks, Nabin also raised the issue of illegal immigration. He accused Rahul Gandhi of protecting what he described as infiltrators. Nabin argued that Indian citizens should have priority over the country’s resources, wealth and land.

The BJP leader said his party would oppose attempts to settle people in India whom he described as having a “foreign mindset.” These were political allegations made by Nabin, and they should not be treated as established findings against Rahul Gandhi or any particular group.

The comments come amid an ongoing political debate over electoral processes and the Election Commission. The Congress has been pressing its concerns through protests and political campaigns, while the BJP has defended the election machinery and criticised the opposition’s approach.

The controversy has also brought renewed attention to the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. The process has become a significant political issue, with opposition parties raising concerns about voter records and the Election Commission’s decisions. The Election Commission has maintained that its procedures have legal and statutory backing.

Nabin also spoke about the BJP’s preparations for upcoming elections. He said the party’s workers remain active throughout the year and do not limit their political activities to election periods.

According to Nabin, the BJP considers every day a working day and an election day. He said party workers continue their programmes, organisational activities and communication with the public throughout the year.

The statement reflects the BJP’s emphasis on maintaining an ongoing organisational presence among voters. Rather than concentrating only on election campaigns, the party leadership has repeatedly highlighted regular interaction with the public and continuous grassroots activity.

Nabin’s comments came after he offered prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi. He also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the temple corridor project.

The latest exchange between the BJP and Congress adds to the political debate surrounding the Election Commission and electoral processes. Rahul Gandhi and opposition parties have continued to raise questions about the functioning of the election machinery, while the BJP has defended the institution and criticised the opposition protests.

The Election Commission has maintained that differing views within the institution are part of the normal decision-making process and that its orders follow established legal procedures. The Congress, meanwhile, continues to raise questions about decisions related to electoral roll revisions.

Nitin Nabin’s remarks represent the BJP’s political response to the protests led by Rahul Gandhi. His allegations regarding an “anarchist mindset” and alleged protection of infiltrators are political claims made by the BJP president and have not been established as independent findings.

The dispute is likely to remain an important political issue as parties prepare for upcoming electoral contests. The debate is centred on the credibility of electoral processes, the functioning of the Election Commission and the political parties’ competing positions on voter-related issues.

For voters, the ongoing developments underline the importance of following official information from the Election Commission regarding electoral rolls, voter registration and revision procedures. Political allegations made during the dispute should be distinguished from verified findings by competent authorities.
