Political analysts say that raising such issues in Parliament reflects growing pressure on the government to reform the recruitment system and establish stricter accountability mechanisms.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Member of Parliament Sanjay Singh has submitted a suspension of business notice in the Rajya Sabha to urgently discuss alleged irregularities in the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Phase-13 recruitment examination. The notice was moved under Rule 267, which allows MPs to seek discussion on matters of public importance by suspending all listed business in the House.

Sanjay Singh, while addressing the media, stated that lakhs of aspirants have raised serious concerns about irregularities in the conduct of the SSC Phase-13 examination. These include technical glitches during the online test, lack of transparency in the results, and allegations of favoritism and paper leaks. He added that the issue directly affects the future of young aspirants across the country who are preparing for government jobs.

The AAP leader urged the central government to immediately order an impartial investigation into the matter and suspend any further proceedings related to the current selection process until a transparent review is completed. He emphasized that the credibility of one of the largest recruitment bodies in the country is at stake and that such irregularities undermine public trust in the examination system.

Opposition parties have echoed Singh’s concerns, stating that irregularities in competitive exams have become a recurring issue and are causing distress among students and job seekers. Several members have called for setting up a Parliamentary committee or an independent body to look into the functioning of recruitment agencies like the SSC.

In his notice, Singh also demanded that the government provide a statement in Parliament outlining steps taken to ensure the integrity of the examination process. He insisted that the matter should not be brushed aside as it impacts the livelihoods and morale of countless youth.

While the Rajya Sabha Chairman has not yet taken a decision on admitting the suspension notice, the issue is likely to gain traction in the House during the current session. If admitted, the discussion would lead to a formal debate on the floor of Parliament, compelling the government to respond.

This development comes at a time when several other examination-related controversies have surfaced in India, leading to increased scrutiny of recruitment procedures in various government bodies. In recent months, exams held by other agencies have also faced criticism over administrative lapses and alleged malpractices.

Political analysts say that raising such issues in Parliament reflects growing pressure on the government to reform the recruitment system and establish stricter accountability mechanisms. They also suggest that highlighting such matters gives opposition parties an opportunity to connect with the youth and unemployed sections of society.

As of now, there has been no official response from the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, which oversees the SSC. AAP has stated that it will continue to raise the issue until concrete action is taken to safeguard the interests of job aspirants.
