At the Baidu World Conference, China’s leading search engine company, Baidu Inc., revealed a series of new AI tools aimed at expanding its commercial offerings. These include a cutting-edge text-to-image generator and a no-code app builder, allowing users to create applications without any coding knowledge.
This move is part of a broader industry trend where tech giants are focusing on monetizing large language models (LLMs) after extensive investments in AI research and development. Baidu is positioning its technology as a competitor to OpenAI's GPT, with plans to integrate these innovations into various industries.
CEO Robin Li introduced I-RAG, a text-to-image technology powered by Baidu’s search capabilities, which addresses a common issue in AI-generated images known as "hallucination" — when images deviate from the input text or include elements that don’t exist. The company has also seen significant growth in its Ernie platform, which now handles 1.5 billion user queries and interactions daily, a huge increase from the 200 million reported in May. These interactions encompass a wide range of tasks, from generating text to answering questions and assisting with applications.
Through these advancements, Baidu is positioning itself as a major player in the AI commercialization space, particularly with its AI agents that empower users to develop their own applications.
