Google has officially released a standalone Gemini AI app for iPhones, providing users with easier access to advanced features like the Gemini Live function. Previously only available through the Google app, the dedicated Gemini app is now a standalone option on iOS, bringing an upgraded user experience directly to the iPhone homescreen.
One of the major highlights of the new app is Gemini Live, which enables conversational interactions with the AI chatbot. Users can now communicate in real time, making the experience more engaging and dynamic. Additionally, the app integrates seamlessly with other Google services such as YouTube, Google Maps, and Gmail, pulling relevant data to deliver more personalized responses.
The Gemini iOS app also includes Extensions, a feature that allows users to access real-time information on flights, hotels, music, and videos, making it ideal for travel planning and entertainment exploration. For Gemini Advanced subscribers, the app offers customizable chatbots, known as Gems, which users can create, edit, and personalize just like the Android version.
The app supports 10 different voice options for the AI chatbot, which will apply across all Gemini responses. It is also available in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Hindi, Portuguese, Arabic, Italian, Indonesian, Japanese, Turkish, and Vietnamese.
In addition to these new features, reports suggest that Google is working on expanding Gemini Live's document understanding capabilities, which could allow users to engage in context-based conversations with Gemini using uploaded documents. This feature may be available soon, further enhancing the app’s task-completion abilities.
