OpenAI has unveiled its new video generation AI tool, Sora Turbo, to Plus and Pro subscribers. This advanced model allows users to create high-quality videos in 1080p resolution, with a maximum length of 20 seconds. What makes Sora Turbo even more appealing is its capability to remix AI-generated content with users' own assets, enabling a more personalized experience.
The tool was initially previewed in February 2024 and has been made available as a standalone product for the first time. However, after its release on Monday, OpenAI had to temporarily disable sign-ups due to overwhelming demand. The system's popularity highlights the increasing demand for AI-generated video content tools in creative industries.
Developed by a team led by Aditya Ramesh, Vice President of Research at OpenAI, Sora Turbo offers a significant improvement in speed and functionality compared to its predecessor. The company has also introduced a new user interface designed to make the video creation process smoother and more intuitive for users, even those without extensive technical knowledge.
CEO Sam Altman expressed his excitement about Sora, calling it "like GPT-1 for video," emphasizing the groundbreaking potential of this new technology. OpenAI views this as an early step in a larger journey to revolutionize visual generation, with future iterations expected to build on the solid foundation laid by Sora Turbo.
