In a move to strengthen India’s electric vehicle (EV) sector, TÜV SÜD, a global leader in testing, inspection, and certification, has launched its first E-Mobility Training Mobile Lab in Bengaluru. The mobile lab is designed to offer hands-on technical training in electric mobility, targeting industry professionals, students, and aspiring EV engineers across India.
The E-Mobility Mobile Lab is a state-of-the-art facility mounted on a vehicle, equipped with real-time simulation tools, EV components, battery testing modules, and diagnostic equipment. This mobile lab allows TÜV SÜD to bring advanced training directly to automotive hubs, educational institutions, and manufacturing clusters, especially in areas that lack access to sophisticated EV learning infrastructure.
As the EV sector continues to expand in India, the demand for skilled professionals in areas such as battery management systems, EV safety standards, and high-voltage systems has surged. TÜV SÜD’s mobile lab is positioned as a solution to bridge the growing skills gap in the sector. The training programs have been developed in collaboration with industry experts and are aligned with global safety and performance benchmarks.
Speaking at the launch, Niranjan Nadkarni, CEO of TÜV SÜD South Asia, said, “With the EV revolution gaining pace in India, there is a critical need to build a future-ready workforce. Our mobile training lab is a step toward democratizing access to world-class training and enhancing technical know-how on the ground.”
The initiative has been well-received by key stakeholders in the EV ecosystem, including manufacturers, academia, and government bodies. The lab will offer both introductory and advanced modules, covering topics such as EV architecture, battery technologies, charging infrastructure, and thermal management systems.
What makes the TÜV SÜD mobile lab especially impactful is its reach. By being mobile, it can travel across states and deliver practical training without participants needing to relocate or access centralized facilities. This approach aligns with the Indian government's vision of localized skill development under the Skill India and Make in India missions.
In addition to Bengaluru, the mobile lab is scheduled to visit cities like Pune, Chennai, and Hyderabad in the coming months. TÜV SÜD plans to train hundreds of engineers and technicians through this initiative in 2025 alone.
With this strategic launch, TÜV SÜD reinforces its commitment to supporting India’s sustainable mobility future, ensuring the EV workforce is equipped with the right knowledge, tools, and safety practices to lead the next generation of transportation.
