Chandigarh is preparing for grand New Year’s Eve celebrations with stringent security measures in place. The city police have deployed approximately 13,000 personnel to maintain safety and ensure smooth conduct of the festivities. Security arrangements include special teams stationed at popular party venues, key intersections, and marketplaces to manage large gatherings and prevent any law-and-order disruptions.
Senior police officials have confirmed that traffic diversions and no-entry zones have been planned to avoid congestion in high-traffic areas. Checkpoints have been set up at multiple locations to monitor vehicular movement, and drunk-driving checks will be conducted rigorously. In addition, surveillance cameras and drone monitoring systems are being utilized to enhance security monitoring throughout the city.
To ensure public safety, authorities have issued a set of guidelines for event organizers and partygoers. These include mandatory licenses for late-night events, fire safety precautions, and clear emergency exit arrangements. Hotels, clubs, and restaurants have been advised to strictly adhere to the guidelines and limit crowd capacity.
For citizens’ convenience, helpline numbers have been circulated to report emergencies, and additional patrolling units have been deployed in residential areas. Women safety squads are also on duty to handle any complaints related to harassment or security threats.
While the administration has promised a safe and enjoyable celebration, residents and visitors have been urged to cooperate with officials and follow all safety measures. With these arrangements, Chandigarh aims to usher in the New Year peacefully and securely.
