Several Rajya Sabha members also called for wider reforms in the aviation sector, including the modernization of airport infrastructure, better training for airline staff, and stricter oversight on aircraft maintenance practices.

During the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament, Union Civil Aviation Minister made a firm statement in the Rajya Sabha regarding the recent Air India crash, emphasizing that the government is committed to truth and transparency. Responding to questions and concerns raised by members of the opposition, the minister stated clearly that the investigation into the incident will be conducted without bias and in accordance with international safety and regulatory standards.

The tragic Air India crash, which led to several casualties and sparked nationwide debate about aviation safety in India, was among the key topics discussed during the session. Members across political lines demanded updates on the progress of the investigation, the measures taken by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, and whether any accountability had been established.

The Aviation Minister assured the House that the government is not interested in defending any wrongdoings or avoiding hard questions. He said, “We want to stand with the truth, not anything else,” indicating the government’s willingness to make all necessary information public once the investigation reaches its conclusion. The Minister added that technical experts and independent agencies were being consulted to ensure there is no compromise in the quality or integrity of the probe.

He also highlighted the steps taken since the crash, including temporary operational suspensions at certain airports, audits of Air India’s internal safety protocols, and closer coordination with the International Civil Aviation Organization for safety compliance. The Ministry has initiated a comprehensive review of existing safety procedures across all domestic airlines and airports.

The minister's address also touched on the importance of communication and transparency with the public. He acknowledged the emotional toll the crash had taken on the families of the victims and promised timely updates and support for those affected. Compensation procedures, assistance for survivors, and long-term policy changes are all being worked on, he confirmed.

Several Rajya Sabha members also called for wider reforms in the aviation sector, including the modernization of airport infrastructure, better training for airline staff, and stricter oversight on aircraft maintenance practices. The minister responded positively, noting that the crash has exposed gaps in the system that must now be addressed through systemic change.

Opposition parties, while welcoming the assurance of a fair investigation, asked for a timeline and greater clarity on when the findings would be shared with the public. The government has not committed to a specific date but indicated that it would ensure full transparency once the investigation concludes.

This development in Parliament has been seen as a key moment in the government’s approach to handling aviation incidents, with stakeholders hoping that the promised reforms and accountability measures will follow in a timely manner.
