A Delhi court has taken a significant step in the land-for-jobs scam case, summoning former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, his son Tej Pratap Yadav, and daughter Hema Yadav. The case revolves around allegations that land parcels were taken as bribes in exchange for jobs in the Indian Railways during Lalu Prasad’s tenure as Union Railway Minister.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been leading the probe, alleging that Lalu Prasad and his family members misused their position to benefit close associates and acquire land at undervalued rates. The investigation suggests that several individuals, who were later appointed to Group D posts in the Railways, transferred their land to Lalu Prasad’s family members or linked entities.
The summons follows a detailed charge sheet filed by the CBI, which reportedly contains evidence of financial irregularities, forged documents, and unlawful appointments. If proven guilty, the accused may face severe legal consequences under anti-corruption and criminal conspiracy laws.
While Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family have denied any wrongdoing, they claim that the case is politically motivated. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has accused the BJP-led central government of using investigative agencies for political vendetta. They argue that Lalu Prasad has been a strong opposition voice, and such allegations are part of a larger strategy to weaken his political influence.
Legal experts suggest that the case could have significant implications for Bihar’s political landscape, as Lalu Prasad remains a key figure in regional politics. The upcoming hearings will determine the course of action and whether further legal measures, including arrests, may follow.
As the political and legal battle intensifies, all eyes will be on how the case unfolds in court and its impact on Bihar’s political scenario.
