The national capital is currently grappling with a cold wave, with temperatures dipping to sub-zero levels during the early hours of the morning. In distressing visuals captured at 3 am from the Lodhi Road area, homeless people were seen sleeping on the sidewalks, exposed to the biting cold.
The cold wave has brought severe discomfort to vulnerable populations, particularly the homeless, who have no option but to sleep outdoors in harsh conditions. Many of these individuals have no access to proper shelter or warm clothing, making them highly susceptible to cold-related health risks.
Authorities have issued an alert regarding the weather, advising residents to take necessary precautions. Meanwhile, local NGOs and welfare organizations are doing their best to distribute blankets and provide other forms of assistance to the homeless. However, the scale of the problem remains a significant challenge for the city’s civic bodies.
The cold wave, which has intensified over the past few days, is expected to continue for several more days, with Delhi's minimum temperature dropping further. Experts predict that the situation will worsen unless immediate action is taken to provide adequate shelter and support for the city's homeless.
