The MEA spokesperson emphasized that both Kashmir and Manipur have democratically elected governments that are actively working towards maintaining peace, stability, and development.

India has firmly dismissed the recent statement by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights regarding the situation in Kashmir and Manipur, terming the concerns as "misplaced" and "unwarranted." The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) responded by reiterating that India is a democratic nation that upholds the rule of law and ensures human rights for all its citizens.

The MEA spokesperson emphasized that both Kashmir and Manipur have democratically elected governments that are actively working towards maintaining peace, stability, and development. The government further highlighted that external observations based on limited knowledge do not present an accurate picture of the ground realities in these regions.

India also reaffirmed that it does not require external validation for its internal matters and urged international organizations to engage in objective assessments before making statements. The statement comes in response to concerns raised by the UN Human Rights office regarding recent incidents of violence in Manipur and the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

While India remains open to dialogue on human rights issues at global forums, it has maintained that any misrepresentation of facts by international bodies does not contribute positively to constructive discussions. The government reassured that all necessary steps are being taken to address challenges while protecting the rights and dignity of its citizens.
